1900's Art Nouveau French Tray Table w/ Valny Hand Painted Tile Top. Lovingly carved Art Nouveau walnut table has frond and tendril design. Cabriolet legs have lily or trumpet flower tops. Glass tray top lifts off for easy cleaning. Beautiful mahogany and rosewood veneers rim the hand painted women on the tile. Signed by artist Valny, a Russian ceramicist and painter famous for his decorative tiles on period French furniture. Sadly, this piece has seen some action and maybe more than one person who tried to pry the tile out of the piece. The tile has been cracked by this effort and there is some inlay loss to the bead around the tile. One quarter side has also lost some of the intricate carving due to a move. There is a cross bar that stabilizes the underside of the table. This treasure needs some restoration but is well worth the work. A very delicate gem in the rough. Stands 22.5" high and 22" round. $500.00 + s&h.

Antique Empire Railroad Baggage Cart. I lead a privileged life as a child. I rode Santa Fe's Texas Chief first class. Bound for Galveston, I was dressed in a perfect yellow dress, Saks, complete with hat and flawless black patent leather shoes. Mom, the height of fashion, in her Daniello's custom Italian suit with stiletto kidskin navy pumps. Dad, Brook's Brother's all the way. Now you just don't throw those clothes into a soft sider and into the over head bin (as I do now when bound for overseas). A porter took your baggage on this cart to the baggage car with utmost care and THEN catapulted it onto the car while you boarded the train. That's finesse. This is that cart that did that deed for those of us who enjoyed the privilege of train travel. $125.00
